Qurate was established in 2014 and is headquartered in Fukuoka, Japan. Our regional offices include Tokyo, London, and we plan to open a Paris office later this year.

While backpacking through Asia in 2002, Tom began to crystallize the idea for a more curated internet. Over the next few years, his experiences working closely with creative agencies and big brands gave Tom insight into how impactful this concept could be in the evolution of digital content. As a result, he founded Qurate in 2014, and began building an enthusiastic team to help him translate his idea into a useful solution. As Qurate’s CEO and Founder, Tom ensures that everything Qurate produces is innovative, creative, and meaningful.

Digby Lewis

Non-Executive Director

Digby is a leading expert on content creation and distribution as well as a sought-after public speaker who knows how to craft a compelling story. His roles working for industry giants like MTV and Buzzfeed give him the background needed to not just understand how content impacts the world, but how it can shape it as well. In 2016, he began working with iris Worldwide, which was voted one of the top five most courageous creative agencies in the world, to set up a new specialist content division. As Qurate’s Non-Executive Director, Digby brings his vast experience and strategic thinking to deliver rapid business growth to our company.

Alexa Huth

Alexa Huth

Head of Content

Alexa works to find the intersection between engaging content and technical insight. She began her career at Pittsburgh’s federally funded research and development center, the Software Engineering Institute. By working as the personal writer for the Institute’s C-Suite as the Senior Technical Writer for the Director’s Office, she gained experience writing complex content that appeals to a wide audience. As Qurate’s Head of Content, Alexa helps to communicate the company’s creative vision to the world.

Sadi Qevani

Platform Architect

Sadi’s goal is to make the world a better place, one line of code at a time. He studied Computer Science and Information Systems from American University and used this education as a springboard into roles as a front-end developer for companies like Ekseriya Software and Blue Stout. This experience allowed him to become skilled in frontend and backend development. As Qurate’s Platform Architect, Sadi is working on the core architecture and development strategy for our platform.

Kazuhiro Koga

Business Development Manager

Kazuhiro’s interest in international business started while he worked for btrax, a creative agency that promotes business ties between Japan and San Francisco. After seeing success as the lead coordinator of Japan Night, Kazuhiro began dedicating his efforts to helping Japanese companies expand into tech hubs like Silicon Valley. As Qurate’s Business Development Manager, Kazuhiro helps our company to navigate Japanese markets and creates opportunities for us to grow.

Robert Crain

Robert Crain

Head of Operations

Robert has been a creative director since 2000, and finds himself most drawn to the roles that allow him to use designs to solve users’ problems. He has an extensive history of work with leading companies including Nokia, Havas, BMW, and Vodafone just to name a few. In addition, he spent nearly a decade as a lecturer as part of the Faculty of Digital Media and Creative Industries from the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences. As Qurate’s Operations Officer, Robert ensures that Qurate’s internal and external operations processes flow seamlessly.

Srotoswini sought to combine her MBA degree in marketing with her acumen for numbers by specializing in the field of Brand Management & Marketing Analytics. In her position as Marketing Manager for India’s e-commerce giant, Flipkart, Srotoswini developed a nuanced understanding of campaign management. She is particularly skilled at developing comprehensive marketing strategies that incorporate all aspects of a business to achieve the best possible result. As Qurate’s Head of Marketing, Srotoswini streamlines our go-to-market and brand positioning strategies across all communication channels to achieve maximum relevant reach.

Martin is an award winning graphic designer who has worked for exceptional companies including JTB, Sport England, and Moda Furnishings. Recognized for his exceptional designs, Martin is a two-time winner of the Northern Digital Awards UK for best ecommerce website, as well as the 2016 winner of the Sports, Leisure & Toys E-commerce website of the Year at the Northern E-commerce Awards. As Qurate’s Lead UX Designer, Martin adeptly creates stunning and intuitive digital solutions for our online content.

Alex is a developer with a passion for graphics and game development. His eight years of professional coding experience enable him to find creative ways to tackle development challenges. Through his role working on Stealth Inc. and other projects, he became versed in native development for a wide variety of platforms. As Qurate’s Head of Software, Alex is in charge of front-end development for web, iOS and Android apps.

Daniel Yoder

Daniel is a multimedia expert who began specializing in design over a decade ago. His international freelance experience has led him to find his passion for creating motion graphics and 3D content. Loving all things media, Daniel also spent two years as the host of a wildly popular podcast on life in Japan. As Qurate’s Head of Media, Dan crafts new ways to visualize everything we develop, from graphics to video, animation and photography.

Ozgun Koyun

Platform Architect

Ozgun is a dedicated Ruby on Rails developer with a long history working with HTML and CSS, JavaScript, SQL/NoSQL. Utilizing his master’s degree in Designing and Managing Information Systems, Ozgun’s forte is developing comprehensive content management systems for small companies. As Qurate’s Platform Architect, Ozgun develops our micro-service architecture.

Nobu Tanaka

Head of Sales

Nobu is an international sales expert with over a decade of experience working with high-caliber companies like General Asahi, Zazzle, and Yahoo Japan. His combination of sales expertise and customer service skills allows him to provide the best customer experience possible. Nobu also uses his professional photography background to assist in Qurate’s multimedia and marketing efforts. Nobu identifies potential new markets and manages the sales lifecycle for all of our European customers.

Kathy Spencer-Lewis

UK Managing Director

Kathy is a graduate of both Liverpool University and Staffordshire University. In her role within Rolls-Royce Holdings plc, she worked to help audit and streamline various supply chains within the company. This experience led her to work for leading global automotive supplier, Visteon UK, managing their supply chain throughout the entire product development process and into the eventual product launch. As Qurate’s UK Managing Director, Kathy ensures that the UK branch of Qurate runs smoothly and stays connected to our other global teams.

Francis is the Tokyo-based CEO behind M Dot Partners consulting boutique. Prior to his role with M Dot Partners, Francis managed the Business Intelligence & Partnerships activities at Orange Labs Tokyo. His impressive history collaborating with industry leaders like Sony and Microsoft makes him an excellent resource to help give the Qurate team guidance and perspective on all thing tech.

Shin Iwata

Shin is currently a Partner at Atomico, an investment firm that backs disruptive tech companies from Series A and beyond. In this role, he heads the firm’s efforts to assist portfolio companies that aim to scale and expand into the Japanese market. Before becoming a Partner at Atomico, Shin was the President of Skype Japan K.K., aiding the company in its goal of expanding within Japan. His passion for advising up-and-coming entrepreneurs and his stellar track record helping new and established companies to flourish makes him a valuable mentor for Qurate.

Joshua Tessier

Joshua is a Partner and Co-Founder of Ramen Ventures. Prior to this role, he acted as Shopify’s Head of Core Product Engineering. His relationship with Shopify began when he co-founded Select Start Studios, which was acquired by the ecommerce giant. His background as a software developer gives him the technical experience required to truly understand Qurate’s platform, and help the company to refine its technical approach.
